Snatch theft at flyover hurts victims on motorbike

GURUN, 25 Sept 2017: 

Two female siblings, aged 24 and 26, were injured in a snatch theft incident near a supermarket near here, at 8.20pm on Saturday night.

Kuala Muda District deputy police chief Supt Saifi Abdul Hamid said the 24-year-old was riding a motorcycle home with her elder sister riding pillion after visiting a night market at Guar Chempedak, when the incident took place at a flyover.

“A motorcyclist came from behind and grabbed a handbag in the basket belonging to the elder girl. Shocked, the younger girl lost control of her motorcycle and they both fell by the roadside.

“Meanwhile, the suspect, on a Yamaha 125Z, wearing black helmet and dark glasses, sped off with the bag containing, among others, an identity card, a cellphone, BSN and RHB bank cards.”

He said the 24=year-old woman  was injured on the right elbow and both knees, while her elder sister, on the forehead and under an eye.
