There is no foul play in connection with the discovery of four human skulls and bones found in four earthen jars at Kampung Baru Nalla in Tronoh here yesterday.
This was the finding of the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun’s Pathology Department, said Batu Gajah police chief, ACP Mohd Nasri Omar.
He said the skulls and bones were likely from an old grave which was mistakenly dug up.
“The bones found were several decades old due to their decomposed condition and their numbers varied, not matching those of four individuals, and there were more of certain bone parts than should have been.”
Mohd Nasri said a Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) contractor stumbled upon the skulls and bones in the four jars between electric poles at the top of a hill at midday yesterday, before informing the police who rushed to the scene.
According to him, the hilltop was surrounded by an oil palm plantation that was no longer cultivated while to the left of the electric poles, there was an old mine which had been abandoned for about 17 years as well as a Chinese cemetery located about 10km from the site where the jars were discovered.
He said Chinese villagers in the vicinity said they were unaware of any activity involving worship or criminals, adding that they suspected the bones could belong to ancestors or relatives who had died long ago and might have been relocated to areas with better ‘feng shui’.
Mohd Nasri Omar had earlier said the four jars were found at the top of the hill at about noon.
“The four jars were neatly arranged with three covered. The bones are mixed in the jars while four skulls and some bones were found scattered on the ground.”
