Senior citizens nabbed for fake pistol brought in from Thailand

JITRA, 8 Oct 2017:

Two elderly men who bought a fake pistol from Hatyai, Thailand – for the purpose of shooting rats and lizards – were arrested by police in front of a restaurant in Changlun town near here on Friday.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said the suspects, aged 75 and 65, who had just returned from a holiday in Hatyai, were detained at 1pm by members of a crime patrol squad in the area.

“The two suspects looked suspicious and one of them was holding a black plastic bag.

“A check on the plastic bag revealed a dark-green artificial pistol, a pistol shell, two plastic containers containing small plastic balls and a box with the words “Air Soft Gun K32″  written on it.”

Initial investigations revealed that both men, from Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam respectively, admitted to entering Thailand last Thursday for a holiday in Hatyai.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man is believed to have been murdered with a sharp weapon at the People’s Housing Project in Section 8,  Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the victim was found unconscious and bleeding by a member of his family at 4.20pm.

He said family members had taken the victim to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment before he was confirmed dead at 5.15pm.

“Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim received treatment at the red zone before the doctor confirmed the victim had died due to being stabbed with a sharp object,” he said in a statement.

He said the police were looking for a relative of the victim who escaped immediately after the incident to assist with investigations, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
