Security guards screening info can be checked online

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 April 2018:

The Home Ministry yesterday launched the Security Guards Company Licence Review and Security Guards Security Screening (ESIMS) Systems website to enable the public to review online the background of security companies and security guards employed.

ESIMS was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Home Minister, at the 2018 Asia National Security Exhibition in the Malaysia International Exhibition and Trade Centre here.

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said the website is a facility provided by the ministry to the public to review the status of a licensed security company with the ministry under the Private Agencies Act 1971.

“This review portal also allows the public to check the safety screening of local security guards,” he said in a statement.

In addition, Alwi said the public could check if security guards were trained and attended the training programme of the Certified Security Guards held by the ministry.

He said this review system could be accessed online via the https://www.esims.moha.gov.my/review.

“The main objective of this review system is to ensure that only licensed security companies are allowed to operate.

“In addition, this review system will ensure that local security guards are free of any criminal record to ensure the safety of the public,” he said, adding this was among the ongoing efforts undertaken by the ministry to improve the private security guard industry.
