KANGAR, 1 March 2019:

Thirty-four Rohingya refugees have landed at the Sungai Belati beach, Kuala Sungai Baru in Simpang Empat, near here, about 3am today.

Perlis police chief SAC Datuk Noor Mushar Mohamed said the public detected the presence of the Rohingya refugees and then alerted the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the police.

All the refugees have been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action, he told the media here today.

Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said all had been taken to Kuala Perlis Immigration Office for documentation purposes.
