Pre-Endemic day 331: Covid19 new daily case reports at 173

PUTRAJAYA, 26 Feb 2023:

Malaysia Covid19 daily new case reports during the latest 24 hours under review stood at 173 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,042,188 infections.

Selangor (61) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (43), Melaka (14), Johor (13) and Perak (12). Single digits were recorded in Putrajaya (6), Negeri Sembilan (5), Penang (5), Sarawak (5), Pahang (4), Sabah (2), Kedah (1), Kelantan (1), Perlis (1): Labuan and Terengganu recording none.

The 219 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,996,057 (99%) while active cases dipped 46 to 9,174 – with 8,845 (96.4%) in home quarantine, 317 (3.5%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units rose to 12 Covid19 patients, with seven needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 paused for the fifth consecutive day to keep the death toll at 36,957 – with brought-in-dead cases subtotal at 7,873 casualties.
