PUTRAJAYA, 4 Jan 2023:
Malaysia’s Covid19 situation further dipped to 333 persons recording positive tests in the latest 24 hours under review – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,027,790 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (209) or fully vaccinated (77). Unvaccinated persons numbered 45 and two partially vaccinated.
Selangor (82) reported the most new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (58), Sarawak (34), Kedah (27), Perak (20), Johor (18), Melaka (18), Penang (17), Sabah (17), Kelantan (14) and Negeri Sembilan (12). Single digits were recorded in Pahang (5), Putrajaya (5), Terengganu (5), Perlis (1) and none in Labuan for the second straight day.
The 376 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,979,168 (99%) while active cases fell 44 to 11,763 – with 11,109 (94.4%) in home quarantine, 622 (5.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 32 Covid19 patients, with 20 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another fatality to raise the death toll to 36,859 – with no brought-in-dead cases keeping this subtotal at 7,854 casualties. The death involved an unvaccinated person.
