PUTRAJAYA, 3 Jan 2023:
Malaysia’s Covid19 situation further dipped to 360 persons recording positive tests in the latest 24 hours under review – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 5,027,457 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (227) or fully vaccinated (79). Unvaccinated persons numbered 50 and four partially vaccinated.
Selangor (109) reported the most new cases, followed by double digits recorded in Kuala Lumpur (40), Kedah (32), Sarawak (23), Melaka (21), Penang (21), Johor (19), Perak (17), Kelantan (15), Pahang (15), Negeri Sembilan (11), Putrajaya (11), Terengganu (11) and Sabah (10). Perlis (2) reported in the single digits while Labuan had none.
The 423 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,978,792 (99%) while active cases fell 64 to 11,807 – with 11,197 (94.8%) in home quarantine, 580 (4.9%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units stood at 30 Covid19 patients, with 16 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid19 added another fatality to raise the death toll to 36,858 – with no brought-in-dead cases keeping this subtotal at 7,854 casualties. The death involved an unvaccinated person.
