PUTRAJAYA, 28 Nov 2022:
Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports fell during the latest 24 hours under review as 2,022 people recorded positive tests – with no imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,986,294 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (1,341) or fully vaccinated (470). Unvaccinated persons numbered 204, with seven partially vaccinated.
Selangor (768) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (159), Sabah (154), Kedah (148), Penang (134) and Melaka (128), while double digits were charted in Sarawak (87), Kelantan (81), Perak (75), Pahang (65), Negeri Sembilan (59), Terengganu (55), Putrajaya (54), Johor (37) and Labuan (10). Only Perlis (8) reported in the single digit.
The 1,819 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,922,435 (98.7%) while active cases rose 199 to 27,207 – with 25,117 (92.3%) in home quarantine, 1,989 (7.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units rose to 101 Covid-19 patients, with 53 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added four fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,652 – with no brought-in-dead cases for the second straight day keeping this subtotal at 7,798 casualties. The deaths involved one each in the four categories of boosted persons, fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated.
