Pre-Endemic day 228: Covid-19 new case reports fall to 1,749

PUTRAJAYA, 15 Nov 2022:

Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review have further dipped to 1,749 persons recording positive tests – with an imported case – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,950,566 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (1,183) or fully vaccinated (392). Unvaccinated persons numbered 164, with 10 partially vaccinated.

Selangor (538) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (224), Sabah (133), Kedah (121) and Putrajaya (115), while double digits were charted in Melaka (86), Negeri Sembilan (78), Penang (70), Perak (70), Johor (68), Pahang (67), Sarawak (56), Terengganu (56) and Kelantan (53). Single digit new cases were recorded in Labuan (9) and Perlis (5).

The 2,564 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,885,228 (98.7%) while active cases fell 821 to 28,784 – with 26,829 (93.2%) in home quarantine, 1,866 (6.5%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units steadied at 89 Covid-19 patients, with 54 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added six fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,554 – with another brought-in-dead case raising this subtotal to 7,777 casualties. The deaths involved three boosted persons, one fully vaccinated, one partially vaccinated and one unvaccinated.
