Pre-Endemic day 224: Covid-19 new daily case reports at 3,436

PUTRAJAYA, 11 Nov 2022:

Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review remained steady as 3,436 persons recorded positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,940,456 infections.

Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (2,316) or fully vaccinated (815). Unvaccinated persons numbered 284, with 21 partially vaccinated.

Selangor (1,286) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (312), Penang (237), Sabah (221), Kelantan (179), Melaka (175), Putrajaya (174), Kedah (172), Perak (171), Negeri Sembilan (167) and Pahang (112), while double digits were charted in Johor (89), Sarawak (70), Terengganu (49), Labuan (11) and Perlis (11).

The 4,292 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,869,969 (98.6%) while active cases fell 864 to 33,965 – with 32,107 (94.5%) in home quarantine, 1,766 (5.2%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units steadied at 92 Covid-19 patients, with 60 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added eight fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,522 – with no brought-in-dead cases keeping this subtotal at 7,772 casualties. The deaths involved two boosted persons, four fully vaccinated and two unvaccinated.
