PUTRAJAYA, 10 Nov 2022:
Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports during the latest 24 hours under review dipped to 3,267 persons recording positive tests – with two imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,937,020 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (2,151) or fully vaccinated (866). Unvaccinated persons numbered 242, with eight partially vaccinated.
Selangor (1,267) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (322), Perak (216), Melaka (185), Sabah (173), Kelantan (161), Kedah (157), Putrajaya (146), Penang (145), Sarawak (132) and Pahang (112), while double digits were charted in Negeri Sembilan (99), Johor (68), Terengganu (55) and Labuan (24). Single digit new cases were recorded in Perlis (5).
The 4,026 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,865,677 (98.5%) while active cases fell 769 to 34,829 – with 33,103 (95%) in home quarantine, 1,635 (4.7%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units surged to 91 Covid-19 patients, with 63 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added 10 fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,514 – with another two brought-in-dead cases to raise this subtotal to 7,772 casualties. The deaths involved three boosted persons, five fully vaccinated and two unvaccinated.
