PUTRAJAYA, 30 Oct 2022:
Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports stayed above the 3,000 mark as the latest 24 hours under review saw 3,189 persons recording positive tests – with three imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,896,922 infections.
Worryingly, most of the new infections are among those who had already received boosted vaccinations (2,386) or fully vaccinated (560). Unvaccinated persons numbered 230, with 13 partially vaccinated.
Selangor (1,190) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (767), Perak (306), Sabah (181), Penang (156) and Negeri Sembilan (123), while double digits were charted in Melaka (88), Putrajaya (82), Kelantan (61), Kedah (59), Sarawak (55), Pahang (51), Johor (46) and Terengganu (14). Single digit new cases were recorded in Perlis (6) and Labuan (4).
The 2,541 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,829,756 (98.6%) while active cases rose 647 to 30,702 – with 29,330 (95.5%) in home quarantine, 1,312 (4.3%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
Numbers at intensive care units further rose to 60 Covid-19 patients, with 34 needing breathing aids.
The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added one more fatality to raise the death toll to 36,464 – while brought-in-dead cases subtotal stayed at 7,761 casualties. The death involved one fully boosted person.
