Pre-Endemic day 182: Covid-19 new daily case reports dip to 1,867

PUTRAJAYA, 30 Sept 2022:

Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports over the latest 24 hours under review returned below the 2,000 mark as 1,867 persons recorded positive tests – with four imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,838,872 infections.

Selangor (470) reported the highest number of new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (451), Perak (183), Sabah (159) and Penang (104), while double digits were charted in Melaka (82), Negeri Sembilan (79), Sarawak (77), Johor (56), Kelantan (55), Kedah (52), Pahang (40), Terengganu (29) and Putrajaya (23). Single digits were recorded in Perlis (4) and Labuan (3).

The 1,402 discharges were outpaced by new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,777,329 (98.7%) while active cases rose 461 to 25,174 – with 24,071 (95.6%) in home quarantine, 1,060 (4.2%) hospitalised and none at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).

Numbers at intensive care units were steady at 43 Covid-19 patients, with 24 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added four more confirmed fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,369, with the second straight day of no brought-in-dead cases keeping this subtotal at 7,732 casualties. The backlog of around a week for Covid-19 death confirmations is due to testing priority given to healing the living.

Active clusters rose to 14 out of 7,081 identified todate with a new Penang high-risk group (Jalan Perak Georgetown 2), with the overall tally at four education clusters, eight high-risk groups and two workplace clusters – in Kuala Lumpur (Persiaran Bukit Kiara 3 Kepong), Perak (Jalan Mahawangsa Kinta).

The education clusters are in:

  • Kelantan (Pulai Chondong 3 Machang),
  • Perak (Jalan Kemas Seri Iskandar Perak Tengah and Kota Gopeng 4 Kampar) and
  • Selangor (Jalan Dato Tabal Hulu Selangor).

The other high-risk groups are in:

  • Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Ampang Titiwangsa and Jalan Bunga Tanjung Titiwangsa),
  • Negeri Sembilan (Taman Bunga Raya Seremban),
