Pre-Endemic day 127: Covid-19 new daily case reports dip to 3,927

PUTRAJAYA, 6 Aug 2022:

Malaysia’s Covid-19 new daily case reports seem to be downtrending as the latest 24 hours under review saw 3,927 persons recording positive tests – including 14 imported cases – to raise the nation’s tally to 4,701,140 infections.

The Klang Valley is still reporting the most new cases with Selangor (1,052) ahead of Kuala Lumpur (981), Negeri Sembilan (231) and Putrajaya (96).

High numbers were also charted in Perak (324), Sabah (315), Penang (232), Melaka (155), Johor (128) and Kedah (121) while double digits were recorded in Sarawak (99), Pahang (93), Kelantan (49), Terengganu (32) and Perlis (12) as only Labuan (7) reported in the single digit.

The 4,949 discharges outpaced new cases as total recoveries rose to 4,618,625 (98.2%) while active cases fell 1,028 to 46,506 – with 44,843 (96.4%) in home quarantine, just 24 at Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC) and 1,587 (3.4%) hospitalised.

Numbers at intensive care units were steady at 52 Covid-19 patients, with 38 needing breathing aids.

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added six more confirmed fatalities to raise the death toll to 36,009, with three another brought-in-dead cases raising this subtotal to 7,654 casualties. The backlog of around a week for Covid-19 death confirmations is due to testing priority given to healing the living.

Active clusters rose to 23 out of 7,046 identified todate – making up eight new clusters added in the past week.

The latest are all high-risk groups in Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Jaya 3 Cheras), Negeri Sembilan (Bukit Rasah 2 Seremban) and Penang (Jalan Pantai Jerejak) – bring this sub-total to 10.

The remaining seven high-risk groups are in Penang (Jalan Panchor Jelutong, Lorong Batu Lanchang and Lorong Impian Enam 2 Perai), Perak (Jalan Matahari Ipoh) and Selangor (Jalan Padang Golf 4 Hulu Selangor, Jalan SS 19/3 Petaling and Lorong Haji Mughni 2 Klang).

There are 10 education clusters are in Kelantan (Kampung Gatal Kuala Krai 2 Kuala Krai), Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Yahya 6 Titiwangsa and Lengkungan Duta Kepong), Negeri Sembilan (Lorong Ilmu 2 Seremban), Perak (Batu 4 Kuala Rui 2 Hulu Perak, Jalan Ipoh Lumut Perak Tengah, Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi Kinta, Jalan Simpang Pulai Lahat Kinta) plus Selangor (Jalan 17/19 Petaling and Jalan Istana Lama 2 Kuala Langat).

The tally stands at 10 education clusters, 10 high-risk groups plus a detention centre in Perlis (DTI Persiaran Wawasan 2 Kangar) and two workplace clusters in Selangor (Industri Jalan Sungai 2 Hulu Langat and Tapak Bina Persiaran Mahkota 2 Kuala Langat).
