PUTRAJAYA, 25 Nov 2021:

The rapid number of recoveries today once again outpaced the 6,144 persons who tested positive over the past 24 hours, raising Malaysia’s tally 2,608,979 infections.

Selangor continues to report the highest number of new cases with 1,650, followed by Johor (605), Sabah (513), Kelantan (511), Kuala Lumpur (452), Kedah (442), Pahang (426), Melaka (291), Perak (280), Penang (263), Terengganu (233), Negeri Sembilan (180), Sarawak (171), Perlis (46), Putrajaya (43) and Labuan (38).

There was a single foreigner among the 12 imported cases, local transmissions involved 5,862 Malaysians (95.6%) and 270 non-citizens. Of this total, 96 persons (1.6%) had to be hospitalised.

The 6,602 discharges brought total recoveries to 2,510,029 (96.2%) as active cases rose by 636 to 69,261 – with 55,705 (80.4%) in home quarantine, 7,584 (10.9%) at Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres and 5,466 (7.9%) hospitalised.

Numbers remain high at intensive care units with 443 confirmed Covid-19 patients (plus 73 more suspected) and among those needing breathing aids with 157 confirmed Covid-19 cases (plus another 115 suspected).

The grim statistic of lives lost to Covid-19 added 37 more confirmed fatalities to raise the death toll to 30,147 – inclusive of another nine brought-in-dead cases to bring this subtotal to 6,096 casualties. There is a backlog of Covid-19 death confirmations as testing priority is on healing the living.

With seven more new clusters identified today, the active number has crept up to 235 out of 5,913 identified todate.
