MoH: No more need for temperature checks as Covid-19 SOP

PUTRAJAYA, 20 Jan 2022:

The Health Ministry (MoH) has agreed to remove temperature checks as part of standard operating procedures (SOP) to detect and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In a statement today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this recommendation will be presented for the approval of the National Security Council (MKN) and be included in the National Recovery Plan for Covid-19.

Khairy further announced the reduction of quarantine periods for arrivals into Malaysia, effective Monday Jan 24. If the PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to travel into Malaysia, the quarantine period is set at:

  • 5 days for those fully vaccinated and boosted,
  • 7 days for fully vaccinated persons who have yet to receive booster shots, and
  • 10 days for those unvaccinated or have only received a single jab.

Details of SOP for umrah travel are still being finalised, noted Khairy.

On recent cases of faked vaccination certification, he said police investigations had found these cases occurred only with Private Purchase Vaccination schemes – and not the free vaccination programme run by the government.

He added that police investigations are still in progress and further details will be announced later.
