PUTRAJAYA, 12 July 2021:
Daily additions of Covid-19 infections dipped to 8,574 today as Malaysia’s tally rose to 844,870 cases.
The Klang Valley made up two-thirds of the nation’s tally over the past 24 hours – in Selangor (4,308), Negeri Sembilan (794) and Kuala Lumpur (609).
Other hotspot states are Kedah (415), Melaka (411), Johor (407), Pahang (314), Sabah (298), Sarawak (235), Penang (231), Perak (168), Terengganu (140) and Kelantan (133).
Only Perlis had no new cases, while Putrajaya recorded 45 and Labuan had 66.
Among the seven states given leeway to ease lockdown measures, only Perlis seems to be keeping the situation under control while high figures still getting charted in Kelantan, Pahang, Penang, Perak, Sabah and Terengganu.
There were 36 Malaysians among the 40 imported cases, local transmissions were made up of 7,087 itizens (83.0%) and 1,447 foreigners.
Outpaced by new cases, the 5,041 discharges brought total recoveries to 747,338 (88.46%) as active cases rose to 91,272 with 964 patients at intensive care units and 452 needing respirators.
Another 102 deaths today brought the death toll to 6,260 – with casualties in Selangor (46), Kuala Lumpur (16), Negeri Sembilan (14), Pahang (7), Johor (6), Kedah (3), Melaka (3), Penang (2), Sabah (2), Kelantan (1), Perak (1) and Sarawak (1). Sadly, another 14 Covid-19 patients were brought in dead to hospitals in Selangor (6), Kuala Lumpur (5), Kelantan (1), Penang (1) and Sarawak (1).
There were three high-risk groups in Johor (Taman Utama Satu Muar), Kelantan (Seksyen 14 Jalan Bayam Kot Bharu) and Selangor (Bayam Tiga Kuala Langat) and the 16 new clusters identified today; plus five workplace clusters in Kuala Lumpur (Tapak Bina Jalan Cendana), Negeri Sembilan (Lorong Sentosa Satu Kuala Pilah), Putrajaya 15 and Selangor (Industri Jalan Utas Klang and Resort Sepang).
The remainder eight community clusters are in Kelantan (Jalan Dusun Langgar Tumpat, Kampung Pulau Kundur Kot Bharu and Lorong Kubur Maras Kota Bharu), Terengganu (Tanjung Gelam and Tok Molor), Pahang (Rantau Kesidang), Perak (Ketior Dalam Kuala Kangsar) and Sarawak (Kampung Kendaie).
The 865 active clusters out of 3,093 identified todate contributed 1,487 of today’s new Covid-19 cases, close contact screening made up another 4,453 and 2,594 from other screenings.
