PUTRAJAYA, 2 May 2021:
There were another 3.418 additional Covid-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, raising Malaysia’s overall tally to 415,012 cases.
Just one Malaysian was among the 10 imported cases, local transmissions involved 3,134 citizens (92%) and 274 foreigners.
Selangor had the highest number of new cases with 1,200, followed by Sarawak (587), Kelantan (400), Johor (283), Kuala Lumpur (198), Terengganu (184), Penang (145), Sabah (115) and Kedah (101).
Perlis reported fewest with three new Covid-19 cases, Labuan had seven, Putrajaya with eight; while the remaining four states reported double-digit new infections.
Following 2,698 discharges, total recoveries had reached 383,140 (92.32%) as active cases rose to 30,339 (7.31%) with 345 patients at intensive care units and 175 needing respirators.
Another 12 fatalities – three in Kelantan; two each in Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak plus one each in Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Selangor – brought the death toll from Covid-19 to 1,533 (0.37%).
There were four more education clusters in the 11 identified today – in Kedah (Jalan Junong, Kiara Jaya and Limau Karangan) and Sarawak (Sains Bakam). With two workplace clusters in Selangor (Kasawari Sembilan and Persiaran Raja), the remaining five are community clusters in Johor (Jalan Sri Putri 12), Melaka (Jalan Emas) and Sarawak (Sebujok, Sungai Sebemban and Sungai Tengah).
As 10 clusters ended today, 396 remain active out of the 1,680 identified todate.
