PUTRAJAYA, 8 April 2021:
Covid-19 infections in Malaysia rose by another 1,285 cases today to 355,753 overall.
There were slighter fewer discharges over the past 24 hours with 1,175, as total recoveries rose to 340,242 patients (95.6%).
Active cases stood 14,203, including 186 at intensive care units and 81 needing respirators.
Among the 17 imported cases were eight Malaysians, local transmissions were made up of 999 citizens (78.8%) and 269 foreigners.
Selangor is back with the highest number of new infections at 374 as five other states also recorded cases over 100 – Sarawak (211), Penang (162), Kuala Lumpur (120), Sabah (106) and Johor (101). Perlis recorded one case, Labuan with three; while all other states charted double-digit new Covid-19 infections.
As four more deaths – all Malaysians with two in Selangor plus one each in Sabah and Sarawak – were recorded today, total fatalities now stand at 1,308.
There was one community cluster at Padang Manggis (Pahang) among the four identified today, the others are work-related clusters at Industri Parit Raja (Johor), Perusahaan Perai Tiga (Penang) and Jalan Taming (Selangor).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham noted 10 clusters ended today, bringing the number of actives down to 348 out of 1,435 identified todate.
