With 1,148 Covid-19 recovery cases recorded today, the total number of cumulative recoveries has now exceeded 50,000, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said in a statement today that in total, 50,204 patients or 81.2% of the total number of cases have fully recovered from Covid-19.
Yesterday, Malaysia recorded the highest number of recoveries, with 2,555 cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said 1,109 new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded today, taking the overall tally to 61,861.
“The total number of active cases with infectivity potential is 11,307. Of the new cases recorded, 10 are imported cases and 1,099 are locally transmitted cases.”
Dr Noor Hisham said Sabah recorded the highest number of cases today, with 441 (39.8%), followed by Selangor (175 cases, 15.8%); and Negeri Sembilan (167, 15.1%).
He said there are 113 patients being treated in the intensive care unit, with 41 of them intubated.
He also said that two fatalities were recorded today, taking the death toll to 350 or 0.57% out of total cases.
The two fatalities involved a 47-year-old foreign man with a history of heart disease, who died at the Semporna Hospital, and a 64-year-old foreign man with a record of having suffered from stroke, who died at the Labuan Hospital.
He said four new Covid-19 clusters have been recorded today in Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur and Penang at the workplace.
Dr Noor Hisham said in Sabah, the Jalan Tuaran cluster involved the districts of Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran from screening at the workplace. “To date, 86 individuals have been tested with 43 cases found positive for Covid-19 in the cluster.”
In Negeri Sembilan, he said the Jalan Haruan cluster involved Seremban district also from screening of workers of a factory with 118 cases detected positive comprising 10 locals and 108 foreigners.
Dr Noor Hisham said the Tapak Bina Puteh Lama cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur reported positive cases through targeted screening of workers of a construction site since yesterday. He said up to today, 820 individuals had been checked with 139 cases positive for Covid-19 in the cluster.
The Beringin cluster in northeast and southwest districts as well as Seberang Perai Selatan and Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang involved workers in two factories in the state.
“The index case (Case 51,576) was reported positive on Nov 19 via screening of a symptomatic individual. Up to Nov 27, 3,116 individuals have been screened with 37 cases found positive.”
In this regard, he announced the Omadal cluster in Semporna, Sabah was closed today. Following the four new clusters identified, there are now 349 clusters to date so far in the country with 176 clusters being monitored as active clusters.
