KUALA LUMPUR, 21 March 2018:
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is collaborating with financial institutions, including Bank Negara Malaysia, in its efforts to overcome serious debt problems among its personnel.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said with the partnership, those with take-home pay below 40% of the gross salary would be identified and included in the target group for monitoring purposes.
“They will be given guidance and assistance on managing (their) finances prudently, and will be helped in stages from going deeper into serious debt problem.
“We think if this (problem) is not addressed the soonest possible, it will have a negative implication on the integrity of the individuals (policemen),” he said during a programme with PDRM personnel at the Kuala Lumpur PDRM College in Cheras here yesterday.
Mohamad Fuzi said the collaboration is also aimed at implementing appropriate financial screening and intervention against those having cashflow problems.
