Johor woman’s hand stuck in toilet for 3 days

JOHOR BAHRU, 6 Dec 2018:

A senior citizen was found in a weak condition after she got her left hand stuck in the bathroom hole for three days at her home at Taman Perdana Sungai Siput near Segamat.

Siti Jauriah A. Ghani, 70, was laying on the bathroom floor and in a weak condition when her son, Yazid Harun, 50, found her at about 8.30am yesterday.

Yazid said he suspected something was amiss after he had failed to contact his mother for the past three days.

Following the death of his father, Harun Kasah 10 years ago, he said his mother preferred to live alone.

“We (her children) asked her to live with us but she refuses. I was worried when I tried to call her for the past three days … without getting any response.

Yazid then went over to his mother’s house, about 5km from his own, but it was locked and he had to enter through the door at the back -when he found his mother in the bathroom with her left hand completely stuck in the hole.

Yazid, from Kampung Paya Pulai, Segamat, then immediately contacted the Fire and Rescue Department as his efforts to remove his mother’s hand from the hole had failed.

Bandar Baru Segamat Fire and Rescue Station chief operating officer, Wahim Abdul Rahman said he received an emergency call at 9.23am and the team managed to remove Siti Jauriah’s hand 10 minutes later.

He said the seven-member rescue team had to smash the floor around the hole to remove the victim’s hand.

The victim suffered minor injuries but in a weak condition and she was rushed to the Segamat Hospital for treatment, he said.
