PETALING JAYA, 8 Feb 2018:
Armed robbers have struck a gold shop at a hypermarket in Kota Damansara here for the second time in three months.
In the 11.47am incident today, four men escaped with eight trays of jewellery valued at RM720,000.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said three masked men stormed into the premises, while another accomplice was waiting in a car parked outside the hypermarket.
“One of the suspects pointed out a .38 revolver at the premises’ security guard and grabbed the latter’s pump gun, while two other suspects were taking the trays on display.
“After that, the suspect fled the scene and dumped the security guard’s pump gun at the outdoor parking area.”
It is learned that the jewellery store was previously robbed on Nov 2 with total losses incurred amounting to RM1.1 million.
A witness, who wanted to be known only as Rusmini, said she saw the masked men when the incident occurred.
“(Initially,) I heard the sound of broken glass… Then, I went to check (what was going on) and saw three masked guys plundering the gold shop before I went to hide with my friends,” she said at the scene.
Earlier, Mohd Zani said the robbers did not fire any shots during the incident.
