Faster MyKad collection soon with centralised printing hubs

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 July 2017:

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) joined a number of states in launching the MyKad Distributed Printing Project (DPP) Hub aimed at expediting the MyKad production process.

National Registration Department (Operations) deputy director-general Datuk Mohd Zahari Hassan said the DPP Hub, which has already been launched in Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Kelantan, Melaka and Johor, is an improvement over the DPP system launched in 2010.

“The DPP Hub can speed up the production of MyKad by up to 50-70%.

“Through this system, 36 out of 55 DPP offices have been made into DPP Hubs which will print MyKad applications from 157 nearby NRD offices (sub-hubs), which were previously printed at the NRD headquarters,” he told reporters after launching the DPP Hub project at the department’s WPKL Seputeh branch here, today.

He said this would shorten the duration to hand over MyKads at sub-hub offices from 10 working days to five in the Peninsula, and from 30 working days to seven in Sabah and Sarawak.

The WPKL branch will be printing MyKads for applications from NRD offices in Kepong, Taman Maluri, Seputeh and Bandar Tun Razak.

Mohd Zahari said the project was also in line with National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) principles through a strategic cooperation between NRD, Pos Malaysia Berhad and supplying firms.

“This provides continuous benefits to the people and the public service through time-saving and cost reduction.”

A MyKad applicant, Nazariah Mohd Ardani, 31, said she applied for a new MyKad before Hari Raya, and had now already received the card.

“My identity card was lost, I applied before going back to my hometown, and I have already got it (the new card) now. This was so easy and time-saving. Thank you NRD.”

In another development, Mohd Zahari said statistics showed that as of May 31 this year, there had been 169,381 replacement applications for lost MyKads – with negligence and criminal elements among contributing factors.
