BUKIT MERTAJAM, 16 Dec 2017:
A buffalo was found in a Honda Odyssey multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) near Sungai Kulim in Kubang Semang here yesterday, after four parang-wielding men fled the scene in a botched theft.
Kubang Semang Village Development and Security Committee member Saidin Yaakob said the suspects, aged in their 30s and 40s, had earlier pretended to fish before using a blowpipe to hit the animal, which was tied near the river.
“Subsequently, they stuffed the buffalo into the MPV but they were caught in the act by a teenager who later related the matter to villagers.
“’The thieves, armed with parangs, panicked as soon as they saw the villagers approaching towards them and left the buffalo in the vehicle before they fled the scene on two stolen motorcycles.”
Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police are closing in on the suspects, who believed to be buffalo theft syndicate members.
