SEREMBAN, 12 Dec 2017:
A total of 166 food premises in Negeri Sembilan were ordered to close immediately for violating regulations under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983 – via integrated operations of the state Health Department – in the first 11 months of this year.
State Health director Dr Zainuddin Mohd Ali said 1,607 notices were issued under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983 – with compounds amounting to RM326,350 – to owners and operators of such premises for various offences under the Food Hygiene Regulations (PPKM) 2009.
“We inspected 6,495 food premises during the period. The common offences were not wearing aprons and head covers, poor personal hygiene, not having food handling training certificate, typhoid vaccination and registration of food premises as well as various other offences,” he said in a statement today.
He said the premises ordered to close usually had more than one offence and such premises required immediate improvement in their level of cleanliness.
“The Health Department and other local authorities are always monitoring and assure actions would be taken on all complaints of cleanliness and food safety from customers.”
He also said two of the five premises inspected during a clean food premises operation in Seremban were ordered closed for 14 days under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.
Nine notices with compounds worth RM1,850 under Section 32B of the same Act were issued.
“Thirteen officers of the state Health Department were involved in the operation to evaluate the level of premises cleanliness.”
