SUBANG JAYA, 6 Oct 2017:
An attempted armed robbery on a van – which was carrying cigarette stock – was foiled when the victim outwitted the suspect at USJ14 this morning.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the suspect was an Indian man – who had approached the victim, a cigarette stockist along Jalan USJ14/1L at 9am while the latter was unloading some stock to be delivered to shops nearby.
“The suspect pointed what appeared to be a pistol wrapped in newspaper at the victim and demanded that the latter hand over the keys to his van.
“The victim handed over a set of keys. The suspect got into the van and tried to start the engine only to discover that the key was not for the van,” he said in a statement.
Mohammad Azlin said the victim ran away from the van in the meantime, while shouting for help.
With the alarm raised, the would-be robber fled the scene.
