KUALA LUMPUR, 3 April 2019:
The anti-vaccination group comprises less than 1% of the population in the country, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said currently there is no organisation to represent the anti-vaccine movement in our country as in overseas.
“We are aware that there are anti-vaccine followers among the community. When compared with other countries, the anti-vaccine groups abroad are more organised, but not so in our country, here they have no representation,” he said when replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Adham Baba (BN-Tenggara).
Dr Lee said the ministry uses social media platforms to disseminate factual information to the public about vaccination and immunisation.
In the meantime, he said, the working committee’s report regarding the feasibility of compulsory immunisation of infants and children in the country will be submitted to the Health Ministry in the near future.
He said, this was because research was still being conducted to study the implementation and related implications.
