PUTRAJAYA, 14 Sept 2021:
The Health Ministry (MoH) has detected another 59 Covid-19 delta variant cases and two beta variant cases in the past two weeks.
Tests conducted between Aug 31 and Sept 13 found these 61 infections involving variants of concern (VOC), raising the overall tally of the delta VOC to 1,140 (82.3%) of the total 1,385 variants infections so far in Malaysia.
Selangor recorded 20 of the latest delta VOC cases, followed by Sabah (17), Johor (14), Kuala Lumpur (6), Melaka (1) and Negeri Sembilan (1). Sabah also recorded two beta VOC cases.
MoH said 440 of these delta VOC cases came from close contact screening – meaning it was transmitted locally – with the highest tally in Sarawak at 696 delta VOC cases.
