BUKIT MERTAJAM, 12 Feb 2018:

The Indonesian maid allegedly abused by two sibling employers at Taman Kota Permai 2 here, succumbed to injuries at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital (HBM) yesterday afternoon.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the victim – known as Adelina, 21, from Medan, Indonesia – was confirmed dead at about 4.45pm after suffering severe injuries in several parts of the body.

“A post-mortem on the woman will be conducted at the hospital at 9am tomorrow to ascertain the cause of death,” he said here last night.

He said a woman and her brother, aged 36 and 39 – who were the maid’s employers – have been remanded for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, for murder.

He said further investigations are ongoing and the police would record statements from neighbours, the maid’s agent, the victim’s friends and doctors who had treated her.

The maid – who had been working at the employers’ house for two years – suffered bruises on the head and face as well as wound infections on the hand and legs.

The woman was rescued at 8pm on Saturday after police received a report on the matter.
