Police have detained a kindergarten teacher in Jalan Cempaka Putih, Kajang near here on Thursday, suspected of slapping a four-year-old boy.
Kajang police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the 19-year-old girl – who was picked up at 7.30pm – had resorted to the action after the victim refused to write – in the incident which took place on Tuesday Oct 31 at a kindergarten in Sungai Jelok, Kajang.
He said the teacher allegedly slapped the left and right cheeks of the boy – causing bleeding in the ears and swelling on both cheeks.
“The victim, who has been attending the kindergarten since last year, was in trauma and crying when his father came to take him home,” Ahmad Dzaffir said in a statement yesterday.
He added the victim was later sent to Kajang Hospital for examination. “Initial inspections found soft tissue injuries on both cheeks and ears of the victim.”
The suspect was remanded for three days to assist investigations under Section 31(1) (a) of the Child Act 2001, he said.
Meanwhile, the one-year-old baby girl, suspected to have been abused by her parents, died at an apartment unit in Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor near here.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt Lim Bak Phai said the victim’s parents claimed they found the child unconscious and covered with a blanket in a room after they returned home from work at midnight.
The parents took the girl to a nearby private clinic and examination found she had suffered severe head injuries.
“The victim was then referred to Sungai Buloh Hospital and was pronounced dead. A post-mortem revealed that the victim had bruises and tear on her head as well as injuries suspected to be the result of falling from a cradle.”
Lim said the parents, aged 21 and 29, were arrested on Thursday at 3pm to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
