University accepts food donation for parking tickets to help hungry students

ANCHORAGE, 9 Nov 2019:

Continuing its annual tradition to help combat student hunger, University of Alaska’s Anchorage campus has reportedly accepted payment for unpaid parking fines in the form of food donations.

To qualify, these unpaid parking tickets must have been issued within the past 45 days, or be within the 60-day “late status” window.

“Any nut butter-almond, cashew, peanut butter- or any flavour jam, jelly, marmalade, preserves, etc. will be accepted. All donations must be commercially produced (no home canning), unopened and not expired.”

The food donations – accepted till yesterday during a two-week campaign period – go to the university’s emergency food cache, which then aids hungry students.

Apart from the peanut butter donations, canned soups were also accepted.
