Two ailing children get wishes fulfilled in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, 30 July 2017:

Two ailing teenagers got their wishes fulfilled in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah by the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia recently.

Nureliyana Ezzatie Mohd Halim, 12, who hails from Kota Marudu got her wish for a pink laptop from the society on July 27, which also happens to be her birthday.

The young girl suffers from transfusion dependent thalassemia with an onset of several other complications. She is presently on palliative care.

Nureliyana was all excited when she received her new laptop just before her birthday party which was organised by doctors and nurses of Likas Hospital.

“Thank you CWS for the laptop. I am so happy.”

At the same hospital 15-year-old Jack Ewol – who suffers from nasopharyngeal cancer stage 4, which has resulted in a tumour spreading to the lungs and right rib – was elated when he received a visit from CWS Malaysia at his hospital bed.

He was smiling from ear-to-ear even before the laptop he had wished for was unpacked for him. Jack who hails from Kota Belud took to the new laptop like fish to water and immediately started on the games installed in the unit.

CWS Malaysia vice president T.H. Teoh, who was present for both wishes, said the society was happy it could help bring a smile back to Nureliyana and Jack.

“This is what we are and this is what we do. Our only sole objective is to bring a smile back to ailing children across the country.

“With support from Malaysians across the country, we have managed to fulfill more than 650 wishes over the last 10 years and we shall continue to do as long as we can.”
