TAIPING, 30 Dec 2018:
Geli-Geli Kucing, a company that provides a boarding service for cats, is planning to open a shelter for stray cats in the district next year.
Its owner, Faizulniza Puzi, 36, said the shelter is aimed to protect stray cats as well as ensuring their welfare could be looked into.
She said she was having talks with the Taiping Municipal Council to find a place for that purpose.
“The cats housed in this shelter will be cared for and treated before they are given for free to those who are interested in keeping them.
“It would be a kind of tourism sports concept which would provide exposure to the visitors to Taiping town,” she said at the Cat World Exploration programme at the Taiping Municipal Gallery here yesterday.
Faizulniza said she also needed cooperation from others, including from suppliers, to facilitate the project.
“The community can also help to save the stray cats and adopt those abandoned cats.”
Meanwhile, she would be spreading her business with the opening of a Geli-Geli Kucing branch in Kuala Lumpur next year.
“Currently, apart from here, I also have branches in Manjung and Ipoh,” she said, having established the shop since 2013 that offered a variety of cat necessities and cat hotel with more than 15 workers.
Speaking on the programme, a total of 10 breeds of cats were displayed at the gallery. The programme also provided exposure to the community about cat grooming and the 50 breeds of cats in the country.
