KUALA LUMPUR, 17 June 2017:
Over 5,000 yoga enthusiasts are expected to flock to the Dataran Merdeka on Wednesday June 21, from as early as 6.30am, to celebrate International Yoga Day.
Malaysian Yoga Association president Dr I. Sivasi said the event is being organised by the association with the aim to raise awareness on the extraordinary benefits of yoga.
He said the event would also see yogis performing numerous ‘asanas’ (postures), starting with the ‘surya namaskaram’ (sun salutation), breathing exercise and meditation.
“Those who wish to attend the event are advised to wear proper attire like t-shirt and track bottom and to bring their own yoga mats.”
The United Nations General Assembly had on 11 Dec 2014 declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.
