Over one-fifth of Malaysian population getting BR1M payouts

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 April 2018: 

A total of 7,084,726 applications for the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 2018 have been approved – with an allocation amounting to RM6.12 billion, said the Finance Ministry.

The BR1M approval includes RM1,200 each to 3,705,853 households earning RM3,000 and less a month; RM900 each to 324,973 households earning between RM3,001 and RM4,000 a month and RM450 each to 3,053,900 households earning below RM2,000 a month.

For those who failed in their applications, the appeal and submission of supporting documents can be made from April 2 to May 31 at any Inland Revenue Board (IRB) branches at the nearest Hasil service centre and Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), the statement said.

The applicants can also submit the appeal via post to PO Box BR1M, GPO Shah Alam, with the supporting documents such as salary statement and a copy of the spouse or dependent’ identity card, it said.

The Malaysian Department of Statistics has estimated the population to be at 32.3 million in fourth quarter of 2017.
