Malaysian nurses highly regarded overseas

SUNGAI PETANI, 5 Nov 2017:

The country’s nurses are recognised globally as their ability and skills are well received by foreign countries such as Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said this is because nurses who had undergone training in nursing colleges under the Ministry of Health were receiving equal salaries as their colleagues from the UK and Australia at health facilities abroad.

“Our nurses cannot apply for unpaid leave if they want to work outside the country. So they have to resign…they are leaving with skills…they get excellent training in the country. Our nursing colleges have trained their students very well.”

He spoke after opening the Community Simulation Laboratory of the Sungai Petani Nursing College at the ministry’s training institute here yesterday.

Therefore, Dr Hilmi urged all nurses to continue to improve their expertise in the field of interest by pursuing post basic training as well as enhancing their English proficiency.
