Malaysian cuisine with a twist has been introduced by Starbucks chain of outlets here, following a collaboration with Chef Datuk Fazley Yaakob, tapping into his Negeri Sembilan roots.
This limited-edition menu is now available across Peninsular Malaysia with planned rollouts to East Malaysia also later in the year with more full-plate dishes – including Ayam Salai Masak Lemak Cili Api and also Pasta Rendang Rembau.
“We have always wanted to launch something that appealed to Malaysians and also helped us to connect even closer to the country that we have been calling our home for more than 22 years,” said Sydney Quays, Group CEO of Berjaya Food Bhd and managing director of Starbucks Malaysia & Brunei.
Highlighting this specially curated menu that reflects the best of Malaysia and also global food trends, he added: “We also believe this is a great platform to uplift local businesses and our community especially under the current circumstances.”
The current menu catering for the Ramadan break fast offers:
Éclair Daging Salai Lemak Cili Api – reimagined with the filing of spicy turmeric-
coconut milk sauce and slices of tender smoked beef.
Roti Kerak Gula Melaka – a Malaysian twist to the Mexican Conchas (shell bread), it
offers an explosion of Gula Melaka sweetness.
Roti Kerak Pandan – a mild yet mesmerising crunchy texture of the shell and the soft centre for a delicious treat on-the-go.
Kek Biskut Batik – chocolate sauce, cream and crackers revisits a household favourite for many.
Kek Kuih Ketayap Gula Melaka – also known as Kuih Gulung, this delicious Pandan crêpe cake is topped with grated coconut in Gula Melaka sauce.
These delicacies from Starbucks are priced from RM5.50 onwards.
