Legoland Malaysia patrons first to ride virtual roller coaster

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 22 Nov 2017:

Legoland Malaysia Resort today officially launched the world’s first Lego Virtual Reality (VR) Roller Coaster at its theme park here.

Dubbed ‘The Great Lego Race’, the attraction elevates the roller coaster experience with a new adventure that is never-before-seen in a Legoland theme park.

Legoland Malaysia sales and marketing director Thila Munusamy said the ride, designed and developed by Merlin Magic Making, features a colourful line up of racers drawn from the ranks of popular Lego Minifigure mystery assortments.

“The Great Lego Race builds a universe of imagination that would unleash the inner child of everyone.

“It pits riders in a rollicking race against wild, brick-built contraptions driven by the Trendsetter, Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, Wizard and Pirate Captain,” she said at the roller coaster’s launch ceremony.

Thila said guests can ride the roller coaster with or without the VR headset, and that the ride is suitable for children ages six and up.

“The duration of the ride is three minutes and the maximum number of passengers per ride is four, while the roller coaster’s maximum height above ground level of ride track is 18 metres,” she said, adding that guests must also be  at least 120cm tall to ride alone.

The ride is also to be launched in Legoland Florida Resort and Legoland Deutschland Resort next year.
