IPC mall reduces Xmas deco, donates funds to charity

PETALING JAYA, 1 Dec 2017:

Having almost completed a major renovation spanning about 12 months, the IPC Shopping Centre here is forgoing lavish Christmas decorations this year and is donating the allocated funds instead to charity.

Centre manager Karyn Lim said the mall has donated RM50,000 cash to Hope Worldwide Malaysia – which will then be used to aid around 100 underprivileged families, mainly in the Sentul West area in Kuala Lumpur.

As another RM50,000 is needed to help these families over the next year, IPC is inviting shoppers to contribute as well to this cause by buying care packages – put together courtesy of participating partners Ikea Malaysia, Popular Bookstore, Absolute Thai restaurant and more.

Shoppers can contribute in the ‘Christmas in a box’ fund-raising campaign by buying oe of four options:

  • Happiness box: Ikea toys, arts and craft supplies (RM25)
  • Home box: one-month supply of basic groceries (RM48)
  • Back-to-school box: school supplies (RM120)
  • Care box: groceries + school supplies (RM168)

The partners have donated either cash or supplies packaged in these boxes – and cash from shoppers’ contributions will further be used for these underprivileged families, said Hope Worldwide Malaysia director Darick Wong.

“We want shoppers to to feel a sense of fulfilment or content each time they pay a visit to our mall,” said Lim. “The campaign’s goal is to further bring that feeling to people and families beyond our walls, especially for the 100 Malaysian families in need.”
