First Penang Hill festival next month

GEORGE TOWN, 7 June 2018:

Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) will be organising the inaugural Penang Hill Festival 2018 (PHF2018) from July 21 to 29.

With the theme “See the Nature, Feel the History”, the purpose of the nine-day-long event is to celebrate Penang Hill’s glorious history, as well as to appreciate its natural and cultural aspects.

Elaborate programmes lined up for the festival would include nature walk, exhibitions, music performances, night exploration and free special heritage guided tour.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yew is set to see 1,000 participants for the 5th annual Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge on Aug 12, which is also organised by PHC.

“The objective of the 15.5km run is to promote greater awareness of nature conservation and heritage preservation in Penang Hill and to encourage hiking as a popular and healthy outdoor activity.”

The event is also in collaboration with the Penang Amateur Athletics Association, the Bukit Bendera Village Security and Development Committee, Actife Style Concept and Penang Hill Residents’ Association, and endorsed by the Penang state government.

Registration is open to Malaysians and Malaysia My Second Home visa permit / iKad holders and registrants can submit their forms at PHC office located on the 7th floor of Penang Hill Building or online at www.actifestyle.com/events/PGHillChallenge2018 before July 20.

The registration fee is RM40 and cash prizes of RM1,500, RM1,000, RM500 for the first, second and third placings, as well as RM200 for the fourth to eighth placings in each category are up for grabs.
