Fewer organ donors in Malaysia

PEKAN, 8 Oct 2017:

The number of organ donors in Malaysia is declining with a drastic drop recorded within three years, an indication of low public awareness on the matter.

Pahang Health deputy director Dr Rohaya A Rahman said a total of 71 organ donors were recorded in 2015 and the number declined to 39 organ donors in 2016.

“More worrying, for this year there are only 18 organ donors recorded from January to Sept 30,” she said in the state-level Organ Donors Awareness Week programme, at the Pekan Square, here yesterday.
