A religious and fardhu ain (KAFA) teacher who rescued four drowning teenage girls last week received a donation from the Perak state government yesterday in recognition of his heroic act.
Muhammad Nor Imran Maula Abd Jalil, 31, received a cheque worth RM7,000 and a one-hectare land plot from the Perak Agricultural Development Corporation (PPNP) Agro-business Scheme, presented by Perak Islamic Religious and Information Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin.
The Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat Muhammadiah, Hutan Melintang. KAFA teacher said he was surprised and did not expect to receive such recognition and contribution and added that he honestly wanted to help the drowning teenagers.
“This is a windfall from the Almighty and I hope what I did will inspire others to always offer a helping hand to those in need.
“I will use this contribution in the best possible way and wish to thank the state government, especially Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu,” he said at the state’s donation and special awards programme held at Masjid Azizah, Hutan Melintang, here.
Muhammad Nor Imran said he had been in contact with the families of two of the victims to check on their development.
“The victim who received treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital was discharged two days ago. I am thankful to hear that as she had swallowed a lot of water.”
Meanwhile, Ahmad Kamal said the sacrifice of Muhammad Nor Imran and willingness to risk his life was very honourable and should be recognised for his courage and hoped that others would emulate him.
A video of Muhammad Nor Imran rescuing four 18-year-old teenagers drowning after the car they were in skidded and plunged into a waterfall in Kampung Teluk Sena, Kampung Gajah near Bota went viral since May 27.
