Braun Büffel Malaysia rounds off a year of art & philanthropy

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Nov 2017:

Supporting the arts and charitable causes through CSR initiatives, Braun Büffel Malaysia has overseen the successful continuation of the Büffel Art Project and raised RM130,000 for Unicef Malaysia over the course of 2017.

Ending the year on a high note after celebrating its 130th anniversary, the German premium leather goods brand saw the launch of the Büffel Art Project in August – which reached out to Malaysian celebrities, artists, and promising students from local schools through The Büffel Art Competition.

Thirty students from colleges across Malaysia decorated scale figurines of the Braun Büffel buffalo according to the theme of ‘education’. Winners were selected by a public vote and a judging panel of local artists.

In addition, the brand held the Braun Büffel 130th Anniversary Charity Golf Drive at the Mines Resort and Golf Club on October 19th, with one hundred high net -worth individuals teeing-off to raise an impressive RM130,000 in benefit of Unicef Malaysia.

Education was very much at the heart of this year’s CSR initiatives, with Braun Büffel Malaysia’s efforts to highlight the importance of art and creativity in shaping future generations, as well as to raise funds for UNICEF’s South East Asia – Primary Learning Matrix assessment programme, which aims to help local governments identify ways to improve their education systems.

“No child should be told or feel that education is a privilege nor a far-fetched dream,” Christiane Brunk, managing director of Braun Büffel Europe and great-granddaughter of founder Johann Braun, said at the launch of the Büffel Art Project.

Coinciding with World Children’s Day (on Nov 20), the three winning groups of The Büffel Art Competition received cash vouchers of RM3,000, RM2,000, and RM1,000 respectively.

Richard Beighton, Chief of Private Fundraising and Partnership from Unicef Malaysia was also present at the event to receive a cheque for RM130,000 from Mr Gan, general manager of Lianbee-Jeco Malaysia, cementing Braun Büffel’s collaboration with the international organisation to help better the lives of children everywhere through equal education opportunities.
