PUCHONG, 31 May 2018:
You don’t need to ‘balik kampung’ to embrace the spirit of simpler life as IOI Mall here has set up a Malay kampung house on 20 one-foot stilts – complete with a verandah where shoppers can enter, take photos and experience what life is truly like away from the city.
Step into huts with rustic zinc roofing, lush greenery, bintang raya, retro bicycles, sampans and cauldron pot. Traditional games laid around are what really revive memories of yesteryear as families gather for
a short game of hopscotch and congkak under the shade of towering coconut trees.
The pangkins setting, typically a gathering place, allows shoppers to gather and rest at their leisure, whilst be serenaded by the tranquility water flow of the stream along the kampung house.
“This year concept, evoking the balik kampung ambience and experience, was chosen with the intention to create lasting nostalgic memories and giving shoppers plenty of reasons to reminisce the good old days to both the young and old to explore the tranquil of countryside life,” said general manager Roger Ko.
Further, the open air carpark fronting the mall is dotted with food trucks serving an extensive array of local, Asian and Western gourmet which simply spoilt for choice of sumptuous food from a bevy of food trucks till this weekend.
With its captivating Mediterranean architecture, IOI Mall has four levels of shops sprawled across a horizontal layout.
