JOHOR BAHRU, 1 Feb 2018:
The Home Ministry is working closely with the police from Australia and the UK in acquiring new techniques to curb activities involving the uploading and downloading pornographic pictures and visuals of children in the country.
Deputy minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the police also monitored such activities on the Internet, citing the incident last year in which a British national was found to have sexually abused children by using Malaysia as a centre for committing such offences.
“We have intensified efforts to track and collaborate with the Australian and UK police to learn the latest techniques or new methods used by paedophiles to hunt and arrest them if there is sufficient evidence.”
Nur Jazlan was asked reports of Malaysia having the top IP address reading in Southeast Asia in the uploading and downloading of pictures and visuals on child pornography.
According to the report, the number of children falling prey to the criminals whom they had befriended online had also risen rapidly.
