40 more mosques for Melaka

MELAKA, 10 Jan 2018:

The Melaka state government is planning to build 40 mosques in five years – especially at locations with growing number of residents, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.

He said the state government had constructed 17 new mosques in the current term among them in Solok Tanggabatu as well as the Sungai Udang Prison Complex and upgraded 24 existing mosques throughout the state.

He said the initiative was taken to accommodate the needs of the congregation for a more conducive environment for prayers.

“One of the areas I think is Ayer Keroh which needed a new mosque to overcome congestion especially during Friday prayer.”
