KUALA LUMPUR, 21 Nov 2018:
Many people typically see a waterpark visit as simply a day’s experience to be cherished till the next trip – but Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark offers so much you want to return to savour first impressions all over again.
With more than 20 wet and dry rides, slides and attractions – it is possible to rush through all these fun activities while the park is open between 10am and 6pm daily.
But who’s ever satisfied with just one roller-coaster ride? Or creating a huge splash? You can now do both at the same time at this waterpark’s Kraken’s Revenge, the first-of-its-kind dry-and-wet ride in Malaysia.
General manager Jeff Jouett said this thrilling ride is not for the faint-hearted as it features a full-on roller-coaster.
“This ride will take you 30m above ground in rolling boats before swooping and spinning through a full 360-degree horizontal loop, followed by a diving 27m drop and a super-splashing landing to escape the shipwrecking Kraken sea monster waiting in the pool of water below.”
As you can imagine, this thriller is packed with queues – especially on weekends – so make sure this is one of the first rides you get to once inside the waterpark.
Equally thrilling are two different sets of water slides – Wild Whirl and Super Twister, which are side-by-side, and The Tempest with its 60m-diameter tornado-shaped funnel.
The Tempest is arguably the longest ride of its kind in Malaysia and experiencing this alone is worth the trip to Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark.
Tucked away in reserve is the Tidal Wave Beach, a high-energy surf simulator that cranks up only on special occasions – creating high-curling ocean-waves towering over surfers. This signature waterpark feature spreads over nearly three acres and holds more than four million gallons of water.
While it typically generates safe waves for fun-seekers through the day, Jouett said the Tidal Wave Beach has been specially designed to serve up to 4m-high waves – higher than any waterpark within the region and rivalling even natural wind-blown waves off the East Coast at the South China Sea.
But this 25-acre waterpark isn’t only about extreme thrills – being laid out in five zones of the Penawar Falls, Penawar River, Shipwreck Reef, Tidal Wave Beach and Kids Ahoy; each zone offering ‘splash-tacular’ experiences to visitors of all ages.
Penawar Falls greet you when you enter the waterpark – with a classic Swinging Ship theme park ride amid a backdrop of three towering waterfalls cascading down 13m-high rock cliffs. There is also where visitors can find the Surf Wall, a safe and high-energy surf simulator.
The Penawar River is for the leisure seeker with its 350m-long, looping lazy river that goes through lushly-landscaped riverbanks and riverside fishing village scenes.
The Shipwreck Reef is designed for thrill junkies with the Kraken’s Revenge, plus the Wild Whirl, Super Twister and The Tempest rides nearby.
While families may want to hang out at the Tidal Wave Beach, there’s also the Kids Ahoy zone designed with children in mind, with three separate age-appropriate play areas.
These are filled with water play equipment with a combination of 13 different water slides – such as Li’l Warrior’s Hideout, Scallywags and Starfish Splash.
The waterpark also offers facilities such as prayer rooms, first-aid rooms, rest rooms, lockers, cabanas and more to ensure the comfort and safety of its guests.Ticket prices start from RM90 at the entrance or at www.dcawp.com for e-ticketing options, promotions and more information.
The waterpark is also easily accessible by road, air and sea from Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore – but do opt to put up overnight at the Hard Rock Hotel just next door as both the young and young-at-heart would surely want to experience wet thrills all over again.
Taking a break within the break is also convenient at several eateries within, you can also book cabanas for half-day or the whole day to keep your family group centralised.
