U Mobile signs pact for smart cars

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 July 2017:

Atilze Digital Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Yen Global Bhd, has signed a collaboration agreement with telcommunications  operator U Mobile Sdn Bhd for the provision of Third Generation (3G) and Fourth-Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) connectivity for Atilze connected car devices.

“The Atilze on-board diagnostic system (OBDII) connected car devices are equipped with various sensors that collect a range of data that is sent to the Atilze cloud platform through the 3G and 4G LTE connectivity provided by U Mobile,” it said in a statement today.

It said the connected car offered many data-driven applications – including real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance, next generation fleet monitoring and management, driving pattern analysis, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (Adas), Usage-Based Insurance as well as in-car wireless fidelity, infotainment, and e-commerce.

“These applications optimise vehicle operation, maintenance, customer satisfaction, security, and improve in-car experience to enhance the comfort and convenience of the driver and passengers as well as safety for all road users.

“Statistically, the installation of Connected Adas for commercial vehicles are proven to reduce road accidents by up to 80%.”

Atilze chief executive officer Gerard Lim and U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck, signed the agreement.

Apart from being a connectivity partner, U Mobile is also looking into bundling Atilze connected car solutions as part of its mobile plans to its enterprise customers, Atilze said.

“This means that U Mobile’s enterprise customers would have the option of having Atilze connected car devices installed in their vehicles, and the various smart car solutions that will be available through the telecommunications company’s 3G and 4G LTE connectivity.”
